Engine in frame front seal replacement possible?

Although not that evident during my pre-purchase inspection, there is now a considerable leaking of oil from around behind the crankshaft pulley of my 51 TEA20. A drip every 30 seconds or so when running and perhaps ten drips a day sitting.

I was wondering if this can be addressed somehow with the engine in place or is there so much to disassemble anyway what with the front of the tractor, governor and timing gear that one might as well pull the engine out and remove the crankshaft completely.
I was hoping this could be done without scope creeping into a complete rebuild. Or better still hear news of some other far easier to fix source of common leaks from that area...third party image

Just remove the axle and radiator and Hood, then the timing cover. No need to remove anything else. The seals go hard with age and heat and crack. You will need to reset the engine governor, if you need the info to do that email me at fergusontractors@tiscali.co.uk

Why remove the engine, sump and crank shaft? The seal is in the timing case cover. A simple one day job.

Remove the bonnet and radiator, jack up the front of the tractor and remove front axle and axle mounting.

Whilst you have the timing case cover off, check for cracks - my timing case cover had a crack causing an oil leak - check timing chain wear and check the governor and governor weights.

I seem to recall chasing up a double lip front crank shaft seal, in lieu of the original single lip seal? John (UK) would have details.

John (UK) also has a very useful information sheet on re-setting the governor.
