TO 30 Ferguson Gear Box

I have a 1953 TO30 Ferguson. The other day I was backing up using the box blade and the tractor stoped pulling. I can push the clutch in and it will stop the PTO. But I put the tractor in gear and nothing. Also, I noticed i can put it in gear without pressing the clutch. The tractor won?t move. Any help would be appreciated.
 
I found some information on a coupler for a to35 but I can?t find anything on a to30. I took the right side cove off and saw the shaft. I turned it with my hand and looked in the gear box and the gear were moving.
 
I'm thinking you should not be able to turn the shaft without the rear wheels turning.

Find an assistant, have them sit on the tractor, put it in gear while you watch what turns inside the transmission. Just be careful, it could catch and start moving!

If the rear most shaft is turning, and the rear wheels are not, something has broken in the final drive. Could be an axle, spider gears, ring and pinion...

Or jack one rear wheel up, turn it and watch what moves. If nothing moving, the problem is in the final drive.
 
That's because there is no load on the transmission.

If it is in gear, the PTO engaged, and the PTO turns with the wheels not turning, the problem is not in the clutch.
 
Today I went through the gears and while the tractor was in gear the drive shaft would not turn by hand. In neutral the shaft turns fine. The tractor was not running when I did this. Then I pulled both rear axles and the look good also. Before I pulled the axles and with the tractor jacked up I turned the wheel. The other side turned a little but not at the same speed and sometimes didn?t turn at all.
 
Stripped the pinion? Rare, but not impossible. I have a heavy duty, weighs a ton, single point chisel plow that the last owner stripped his pinion using it.
