Value of a Ferguson TE20 28HP tractor

We recently lost a Ferguson TE20, 28HP tractor in a barn fire. We bought it from my brother and it was in mint condition. According to my brother it was a first year Ferguson tractor and came from Coventry, England. My insurance company encouraged me to try and find out its value so I am looking for suggestions of what the top value might be. Thank you.

Your brother probably gave you a better price than with anyone else so I'd just add some to that price.

Yeah contents of a barn are the worst part of a barn fire. I hope there were no livestock in there?
If the adjuster can't come up with a value of one like it, I would throw a high end auction result, let them negotiate you down from there. I'd say a super nice one, in the US, in a bidding war, could go over $3000. If your brother sold it to you for 1000 or less, then you can't lose. If they are cheapskates, tell them to price out some repair parts, even on this site's store, and it would be over 1000 for the first few items.. if you had snapshots- or a video of it running and working, your argument gets easier. When we bought the farm, my mom took pics of a 'surrey with the fringe on top' and a Santa Claus looking sleigh, made out of 40 inch wide slabs of chestnut, but since she took pictures where they 'were' in sheds, before we moved them in the barn 'to be safer'... that didn't fly with the adjuster. So much for being safer in the barn too huh? When he found the buggy hubs and top bow hinges, and the straps that were on the sleigh runners, he put a value of them from recent antique auctions. Luck break there. Good luck.
