To20 antifreeze out overflow

Hey guys, thanks for letting me join your group. I have a To20 that I recently restored mechanically. I sent block and head out to be baked and cleaned. And bought all brand new everything except crank. Which was in perfect shape. I had the motor professionally assembled. Then put it back on tractor with brand new radiator, hoses and rebuilt water pump. It runs great after a few hours of figuring out the timing. My problem is everytime I turn the throttle back to an idle it dumps alot of antifreeze out overflow. If I loosen cap, it will dump out cap too on deceleration. I know it's only supposed to be about 3/4 full or so but, it won't stop doing it. I just added about a gal. or more. Any thoughts? Remember everything is new.

If the head was not retorqued after it had been run to warm it up it could well now have a blown head gasket which will cause a problem like your having.

Is there a THERMOSTST in the Cooling System?.....Change and or Install a Thermostat.

Is the Radiator CAP NEW...is it Faulty?

Bob...Owner TEA-20 and other colored Tractors:

The antifreeze should barely cover the core as you look into the fill cap.

Did you get all the air out. You should run the tractor with the pressure cap off until the thermostat opens. You should see coolant returning to the rad at this point. This helps remove air locks.

BTW what pressure rating is your cap?

Take a look at the radiator cap, be sure it is right for the radiator fill neck. Sometimes the aftermarket radiators have strange caps and necks, be sure it is the right length and diameter to seal.

Even though, it still should not belch coolant once all the air is out and down to a proper level.

(quoted from post at 12:08:44 08/06/18) This has done this since the first minute I started it. There is a new thermostat in it. Radiator cap is new.

First rule of tractor repair, just because they are new, does not mean they work.

Second rule, the part they sell you may not be the part you need.

I have had to go back to the old parts many times.

On my TO35 I just leave the radiator cap loose, cooling system does not build up pressure and you do not loose fluid out overflow tube,

Cooling system works very well even in hot heavy work with no overheating,

However my motor is in good repair, no blow head gasket or such,

My problem is not presure related. Again if I take the cap off it does the same thing only more cause a bigger hole for fluid to dump out of. It's weard, it will idle all day and not drip a drop. It won't leak at a high idle, full throttle or under a load either. It will only leak when decelerating the engine. Then it will stop in just a few seconds. But it will do it every time regardles of amount of antifreeze in radiator or cap on/ cap off. Again everything has been replaced. Bought here for a TO20. Brand new radiator, cap, hoses, thermostat, waterpump, engine internals, head internals, gaskets, ect.. All bought here for a TO20.
