what to use?

Brake line works very well for fuel line and can be bent pretty easy so as to route it as needed

Yes, the premade steel brake line works well.

It is easy to bend without kinking, no bender needed, just carefully hand form it.

I like to use a piece of stiff wire, like coat hanger, bend it to the shape you want the line to run, then straighten it out. That will give the length line to buy.

The copper tubing you get now days does not hold up well to the vibration of a tractor and tend to crack. Learned that the hard way

I've never used a bender and have yet to kink a brake line. Yes you cannot make fast 90s and using a can to help form it goes a lone ways

I believe the original fuel line was a single flare and not the double flare of a brake line. I have used the double flare with no problem. However, if the brake line you get is too long, you can cut one end off and flare it with a single flare. This should not be a problem as you have zero pressure.
