carter carb.

I got a kit from this site and it didn't come with idle adj. screw and spring or it wont fit my carb and I have a leak there. Any help?

The idle mix adjusting screw, the one up top, just under the mount flange?

Not sure what would be there to leak.

Are you asking about the main adjusting screw, down on the bottom of the bowl?

That can leak fuel. Is there a packing nut that can be tightened? If the packing nut is bottomed out, and the screw free turns and leaks, the packing is gone or worn to the point it won't tighten.

Was there a new packing in the kit, a black graphite washer? If not sometimes a small oring can be substituted, or wrap some thread around the needle stem to add to the existing packing until it will tighten, stop the leak, and put some drag on the needle so it will stay when adjusted.

Any time I get a kit with replacement adjusting needles, I always compare the original to the new. If not identical in shape and length, I'll reuse the original unless there is an obvious problem, and there usually isn't.

"complete" carter rebuild kits are almost impossible to find. finding a float is another problem. I have two 35's with carter carbs. they are nuthin but a pita. do your carb. look like this one ?

I like the Carter over the MS. My tractors just run better on the Carter. I always take the MS off. I get kits from Mike's -- get address later and post. I rebuild mine. I loosen screws and place complete carburetor in cleaner and let soak over night.

Miner I got a kit and it didn't come with main adjusting screw at bottom of bowl I just need it and packing.I assumed it would come with kit so I dug all the packing out while I was waiting on kit.

You can try an oring.

A plumbing store or hardware store may have a graphite washer you could modify. Maybe graphite string packing if you can find any small enough.

Even a piece of leather.

"Steve,

Unfortunately we do not have any floats for the Carter UT, they aren't being manufactured that we know of.
The number on the tag is probably 2612S in case you need it for further searching. I suspect all of the UT carbs used the same float but I can't say for sure.

Thanks

Sincerely,
