TEA 20 carburetor float

I have rebuilt the carb with a new needle, butterfly and gasket. I continues to leak as if he needle is not shutting off the flow of gas. Do the floats become concaved over the 60 plus years of their life? someone suggested that might be the issue and to solder on top of the float to make it raised.
Thanks in advance, Andy

If your float if caved in it is bad and needs to be replaced no questions ask. As float like that cannot float as it needs to and there is no way to fix it so you need to replace it simple as that

Sounds like the float has been crushed with air pressure, as in someone blowing compressed air into the bowl, crushing the float.

Not much you can do but replace it. Nothing to loose if you want to drill a tiny hole in top and try to pop it back out, solder the hole shut. Chances are it will never be the same though.

Clean up the float and you will find a spot with solder. Either sand it off or melt then with very low air pressure blow it back out then re solder.
