Son's Ferguson TO35--shredder size

I run a 5' on mine and it handles most things pretty well but it does get bogged down in very thick grass. I don't think I would like to run a 6' unless going very very slowly.

I mowed fields for many years with my dad's 55 TO-35 and a 6ft bush hog. the tractor handled the 6 footer very well but in high grass a slower speed or half cut was necessary. common sense rules. dad also had a 5ft bush hog that we used with a TO-20.

Thank you for the information sir. I knew I could count on the people in here to lead me in the right direction. I also got my hands on an old cotton trailer. We want to use the tractor to pull the trailer possibly in parades. I think we should be ok pulling it. ???

I have a TO35 that my grandfather bought new. We have never used anything larger than a 5? heavy duty hog on it. It is presently hooked up to a 5? Covington Cutter that is rated to cut 4-1/2? material. The cutter has a 1:1 gear ratio so it is made to cut heavy material. The blades are also under serrated blades which help with the heavy brush. If you use a 6? cutter, I would think you would only need to cut grass with it.

I have a TO35 1957 model
I run a 5 ft cutter with it, however some of the weeds grass I cut along the lower creek bottoms can be very tall and rank

I would not want more than a 5 ft cut with my tractor,
My friend had a MF135 diesel, it handled the 6ft cutter very well, but it had more hp than the old TO35

Just my opinion

It kinda depends on how heavy the mower is, and what you're cutting.

I once put a real HD Bush Hog brand on a 35. When the mower was in the air I could grab the front end and pick the front wheels up clear of the ground.

We have a lighter 6' mower now, and the 35 does O.K. with it in lighter stuff. But I'd really rather have a 5' mower.
