Brake Anchor Posts - Settings

I still have minimal braking effort on one side of 1958 FE35. Everything is adjusted as per other threads. Do the two anchor posts (above and below the expander cam) have any adjustment/setting? Are they likely to be obstructing movement of the shoes if incorrect? I seem to recall a youtube clip mentioning loosening them then hitting with a mallet somewhere in the process. Are they fixed centre? Are they concentric.

Also are the arms on inboard end of the cam rod keyed plus grub screw?

Thank you.

I've never tried adjusting the anchor post, but it might be worth a try.

Now that it's been operated for a while, pull the drum and look at the wear/contact patterns on the shoes. If not touching near the anchor post, then it would need to be adjusted.

What you might find are some glossy black spots where the shoes are touching. You might sand those areas down, try to get a more uniform fit to the drum. try roughing up the drum with some 60 grit if it is glazed. It may just take some time to wear in.

Also look the expander mechanism, make sure the shoes are actually being pushed out against the drum.
