Anyone got pics of the governor on a standard 87mm engine with the cover removed. Mine came apart and broke loose the round concave part. It has the weights instead of the ball bearings. I bet even a tea 20 would be the same.

Pics from my TEA-20 Standard:

Installing the Crack and Cam Sprockets are not as straight forward as one may think:

I Machined a Mandrel to assemble BOTH old and NEW Cam Sprocket so as to verify there is a chance the CAM SPROCKET can be installed incorrectly:

Figure 5 pn #1 is what broke off and looks not to have threads to hold it on. Thanks for the pics. I replaced the timing gear and chain on my other standard with the help of David in SW and John UK.

Yesterdays Tractor lists these Components:

99.9999 % of any problems I have encountered In the area of the "Governor Plate" and the "Cup Assembly" was the result of the retaining pins in the "Governor Plate" having excessive wear......Jamming the "Cup Assembly"

The "Cup Assembly" MUST be free to move in and out of the bore within the end of the Cam Shaft.

If I understand you right, that part floats in the camshaft bore. The oil pressure behind it keeps all
the free-play snugged up, giving much better response to changes in speed.

I caused the problem myself by cranking the tractor without the governor arm carter pin installed. Engine vibration caused the pin to slide through allowing the governor to rev wide open destroying the chain and weights along with a hole in the cover. Live & learn.
