TO-30 no fire at plugs

I'm sort of stumped on this one. My to-30 will not start up. Usually its one of my most trust worthy tractors. When troubleshooting the issue, I pulled #4 plug and grounded it and have little to no fire at the plug. Pulled #3 plug and the same thing. Pulled the wire coming from the coil off the distributer and ground it out and have a fat blue spark. Correct me if i'm wrong but that should signify the points and condenser are good, right? That leaves the rotor, cap, wires and plugs. Went and got my spare set of each and installed them and still have no fire at plugs. Made sure all wire connections at cap and plugs were clean and good. What am I missing?

The battery finally ran down so much I had to stop and put on the charger.

thanks for any help

If the points were bad, etc, you would have no spark. You got spark. Spark is getting lost inside the distributor. Only thing in there is the rotor.
So spark comes in and spins around and gets lost. It's actually going to ground because the rotor is cracked. Your not the first.
Drop in another rotor and life should purr again.

Could possibly be the insulator on the distributor stud where the coil wire and points attach. I?ve had this happen on two tractors.

I have found that if the insulator is bad, the power wire shorts out and you get no juice to the points. No juice typically means no fire anywhere.
Where did you get the insulator? My wife does not appreciate me storing parts such as this for a "Just in case".
Until she needs it for what ever. . . .

Changed the cap and rotor and still no fire to plugs. Good fire from coil. Could the dust cover be causing a short to ground? Thats the only thing not changed.

Also verified rotor is turning with no play.

Got her going. In my haste to change the cap i got the firing order off. Fixed that and she fired right up. Had me scraching my head for a bit. Thanks for the help.
