Tea20 governor linkage grooves or not

Picked up a spare governor linkage, my
original has a Grove at the bottom but the
spare does not. Does it matter as long as
it contacts ok.
Your thoughts appreciated.

Could the groove at the base of the original have been caused by wear rather than design ?

Well its just that I thought I had read somewhere that a groove was added but not sure why. If anything it would increase the gap tolerance by having a groove.
