Hi would anyone know if the Ball as shown
in pic can still be bought. The socket on
the arm is lose and keeps falling off.
They may both be worn.
Thanks

When I required a new "ball and socket" governor linkage, I typed in the below phrase on the internet:

Images for ball and socket governor linkage

I then printed off the pictures, handed pictures to a gentleman at a Diesel repair shop, he called me the next day with a new component;

Look inside the ' worn ' hole carefully , you will see a groove in the sides of the hole , this is for a spring steel ring that is often missing
or worn thin or through . You can replace it very easily with a loop cut out of a suitably sized coil spring , just cut off one coil and flatten it with a hammer . Try to get it to ' spring ' into the groove , it will then hold the ball into place . I've done this to two or three linkages now and never had a failure . The modern ones work very well but just don't have an authentic look .

You are truly a legend. I poked my high
powered torch into the socket a saw nothing
till I scratched with a toothpick and then
discovered the making of a groove then to
my surprise the remaining spring. Never new
just assumed the socket or ball were
flogged out.
Many thanks.
