Steering torque amplifier

So basically the Jackson power steering unit for about 2 grand or so, I have forgotten, The latest mod being the, I believe, Saturn automobile, electric variable power steering unit, or some such. Too much money? Work? Then there is the red neck steering amplifier.
That requires two steering arm links on top of the knuckles welded together to increase length. Reduces the torque but lengthens the turning radius. However, if your playing on dirt and the brakes work, you can use those to turn.
Welding those together might take nickel rod, I believe and an oven to slowly reduce heat over a few hours. Start it off at around 500 degrees and work down a hundred and hour. Finally turn it off and let it sit. Free ovens on Craigslist. . . Had to punch a hole in the sides to make the axle fit. I just saw the after effects.
I had a buddy weld in a chunk of diamond plate behind a 9N front center axle section for the wife's Fergy. I was going to put an FEL on it but wound up with another machine instead.

Never done it, but seen some that have.

Depends on what use you have in mind. For a light duty application, parades, some mowing, etc., you could probably get by with the electric automotive adaptation. Subaru is the favorite. This would require a 12v conversion and a good size alternator.

There is also a hydraulic version, but you would need to divert the 3 point lift to power the steering. It may be slow as that pump does not make much volume. There may be a way to still have 3 point lift, but would get complicated. Or you could mount a hydraulic pump to the engine, either belt driven (not much room) or off the front of the crank.

The problems with these is, it gets expensive, and the steering gear is limited to how much stress it can handle.

Trying to use either method for use with a loader or heavy daily use will eventually result in the amplifier (if electric) or the steering gear itself failing.

Other options are to go with hydraulic assist cylinders on the steering arms (which takes the load off the steering gear), or in case of the TO35, a complete factory power steering gear from a donor tractor.
