To35 hydraulics

My lift arms have never really had the power I thought they should but had enough lift to do what I needed to use them for so I have not done any trouble shooting. Recently they barely lift themselves empty and cant lift an implement at all. I just did a fluid change when I had to split the tractor for an input shaft seal, shortly before they started deteriorating which may or may not be related.

Well I removed the PTO shaft cover to inspect the filter and there I found no filter. I felt around with my hand in the oil and found no apparently place for a filter. So I drained the oil I still don't see it. I looked at pictures of pumps online and mine appears to be different although its a bit hard to tell looking through the access plate comparing it to pictures online. I can read a part number on the pump if I am reading it correctly I believe it says:

1BD 931 M1

This number does not correspond to anything I find online.

One more thing when I was feeling around for the filter I found a a piece of metal laying on the bottom that I can not identify.

Here is what I see inside the access plate sorry for the poor lighting/picture quality...

Is a later style pump a direct replacement?

Bob..Owner operator MF FE 35 X

(quoted from post at 05:18:43 06/24/18) early TO-35 hyd. pump. no filter.

This “early pump” looks like exactly what I am seeing.

Bob, I did read through that other post am I to understand that the newer pump is a replacement however makes too much pressure? Do I simply need to swap the pressure relief valve to a 2000psi valve (from 2500) or swap other parts as well?

Hi, I'm the guy Bob is referring to. It is my understanding the newer pumps with the filter directly replace the earlier ones. My pump and parts will be in this week, so should know for sure. I have a 1957 to35 and my sn starts with 173xxx. Only caveat is there was a period earlier than mine that requires a lower pressure relief valve. Bob posted some pics on my post that detail that issue.

Well I bit the bullet and installed a new style pump,
swapped my relief valve from the old pump over. It
works night and day better then the old pump ever
did. I was able to lift my 6? scraper blade with an
additional 300lbs on it without it even slowing down.
The only issue is that when I shut off the tractor the
implement lowers within about half an hour. I
thought I remembered reading should stay up
overnight with good functional hydraulics. With the
old pump it lowered immediately on shutting off the
key.
