I bought a TO35 with a 6' finish mower last week - it's pretty good, needs governor work and the Tractormeter isn't hooked up.
It has a fan cooled generator with a shaft that is not drilled for the drive gear - going thru the archives here I found a nice pictorial of drilling and tapping the shaft - http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=894961 - which I can probably do/get done.
Two questions: I see references to different ratio gears in the drive unit that bolts to the back of the generator, but no explanation of how to decide which is appropriate for what application. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Depends on the diameter of the pulley I'm guessing?
All the pictures I've seen have the drive unit mounted on unventilated generators - this generator appears to be have holes, or at least index marks, to mount such a unit - see picture - so I think if I modify the shaft I would be able to attach the drive unit?
any comments? anything I'm missing? suggestions for another way?
Thanks -
David
