Governor bumper screw

I have a TO30 with the bumper screw broken off flush with the jam nut. I can remove it, but governor pre-load adjustment is out of the question. Which leads me to several questions;

Are they available?

If so anyone have a link I'm coming up empty handed? Ebay, etc seem dry.

Part#?

Any possible match from another make/model that are compatible?

Is there a WTB or for sale forum on this site?

Anyone have one for sale?

You could probably find a replacement front cover on eBay or any of the tractor salvage yards. Paste this on eBay, Massey Ferguson TO30
Tractor Timing Gear Cover, it looks good.

If the governor is working and adjusted correctly the bumper screw is seldom needed. It's a tapered screw that "bends" a small lever inside to help prevent surging, USUALLY due to incorrect synchronization anyway..

Info from an old parts Book I have:

Probably to Old of a Parts Book ??????????

Thanks for the replies. as I'm reading that is what I'm finding out. I'm just going through a high idle problem and am check all of the settings and found the broken screw.

I would not worry about the broken screw. Wait until you have better reason to go into the cover, then replace it.

If the high idle problem is the carb not returning to the idle stop, with the engine off, dash lever all the way to idle, the idle adjust screw should be pushed against the stop block.

If not, lengthen the rod from the gov arm to the carb just enough to bring the the screw in contact with the block.

Then with the engine off, push the dash lever to full speed. The carb should go to full open position.

Adjusting the rod length will not change the governed speed.
