Green Belly?

Perusing CL and I see a couple for sale - what is the significance of the green painted bodies? Just a certain build date? or certain option package?

Thanks
David

I believe TO35
1955 model had a green body with gray hood fenders
1956 model (early and most rare) green body with the cream color hood fenders, later during the model year run they changed to gray bodies
with cream color hood fenders. I do not know if anyone knows the exact serial number when the change was made

Note to file: I know cream is not the proper name of the hood fenders color, but I cannot think of the proper name, most just called it cream or
yellow Ferguson?s

The 1955 and early 1956 TO 35s were Light Gray and Dark Green Metallic. Sometime in 1956 around the middle of May they changed to Bamboo Beige and Flint Metallic Grey. The way I understand it because they had so much of the Dark Green paint left over they would paint some of them Bamboo Beige and Dark Green Metallic. Some of the dealers ordered them Beige and Green just to give the customer a choice. I have not found many in running serial number order that were painted the Green, so I feel it was done on request, rather than to paint them green all at once just to use up the green paint.

They also built early 1956 F40 green belly. I was told just the first 24 but there's several around. I'm building one (405075)and just like putting tin together to go with my TO35 green belly. I always thought it was a good color combination. MHF was trying to find a color for the new company when they painted all the colors.

I don?t know when the production dates were, Richard surely knows, but a difference is the special or deluxe 35. The deluxe has the two stage
clutch and special doesn?t. I found a TO35 on Craigslist a few years ago hoping for a green one. The picture only showed a blue tarp covering
most of the tractor. Happily when I went to buy it I found the green paint, not a deluxe but I am still happy with it.

A handsome looking pair - I have been daydreaming about getting a 35 w/live power and attaching a finishing mower to it - I would have used it yesterday to good effect -

I don't have any money for that right now but I can still do research - I've noticed when I don't have money there is no problem finding pieces in which I'm interested and conversely when there's a bit of cash in my pocket the pickings are slim...

How do you like the turf tires? I'm guessing they don't have any fluid in them? I'd think they'd be desirable for a dedicated mowing tractor -

Hi I was working for MF in 1963 when Kennedy was
shot. That same year some beige and green
tractors came in by rail and went out to dealers. Ed
