I want to thank everyone that had anything to do with the Viet Nam war. Today is Viet Nam Veterans day. Thank you!!!

This was a long over due thing to have today Vietnam Veterans day.

While I did not get in country I was in during part of the war so called a Vietnam era veteran. I got out in 1980 but yet when I got out we would not let people know we had been in the Military due to the fact we would get spit on and cussed out.

My wife's former husband died due to cancer caused by Agent Orange and he did not get anything for his cancer other then V.A. care. So his son and his wife lost out when he died

1980??? nobody spit on you then. ya know i was in the army from 69 to 73 and i never once saw a demonstration in all my travels in all those years. the spitting thing is way overblown.

Maybe where you are but I know I sure had it a lot and many guys I know flat out got spit on as they where leaving the military. I spent 6 years in and could have signed up for 2 more years and they would have given me a grade up one and 10 grand

I was in from 66 to 70,we couldn't travel in uniform the last two years,if you wanted to see anti War people you should have been around San Fran in those years like I was,Berkeley was a prime example of the idiots that liked to protest. It was a thing with the spitting and throwing eggs etc.I witnessed it.It did happen.

never said it did not happen. what i said was it was over blown and by guess who? the media. one photo circulated 10,000 times makes for hysteria. btw: when i came back from nam in 72 it was recommended to duck into a bathroom and get out of uniform. i did that but still saw no demonstrators.

my two cousins who were in nam in 66 also say they never saw demonstrators. in san fran i can believe it happened.

Thanks Richard L. Was in Viet Nam in 1966 stationed at Cue Chi with the 25th division out of Hawaii.I never had a problem with demonstrators when I got back either. Welcome home all vets and thanks for a job well done.

In 1980 I was out with a buddy in uniform and we got verbally insulted by three girls, apparently putting on some kind of act as far as we could tell. We both looked at each other with a "What the 'ell was that?". So yes, in 1980 a few mis-guided idiots were still running around.
it also came down from on high that, base wide, we were no longer allowed to wear uniforms off post.
So yes, in 1980 there was still resentment.

i spent 4yrs 8mos in the army. was stationed in Germany, nam, Atlanta, Georgia, kentiucky, Maryland, MO and never once encountered any resentment of any type. never was stationed on the left coast. just lucky i guess.

if the three girls were an act and looking for attention they were just fools.

just curious. when you say uniform do you mean class A's or fatigues. when i was in we were not allowed off post with fatigues on. except to drive a vehicle.
