Removing front timing cover under water pump and oil pan

Sending in to35 motor for complete overhaul. I got belt pulley off but can't get the timing chain cover off. Also need to pull oil pan and clutch assembly. Any tricks to this?

The oil pan needs to come off, at least the bolts under the front cover do. It seems that if the engine is going out you will be splitting the engine from the tractor. A decent engine hoist would be best as it is movable to swing the engine out and then remove the clutch and flywheel. If you have a two stage clutch you will need to put bolts in the clutch compressing the clutch so it can be removed. If you don?t have a to35 repair manual they are available here and is a wealth of good knowledge

Overhauling a Z134 myself right now. Be interested to hear how much money this is gonna cost you. I am in about $2200 and I am doing almost all the work except grinding the crank and re fitting the rods. this one was a money pit for me.

I will second the motion to get the manuals, I purchase both the parts manual and the service manual. There are also some good videos out there if you would rather see it than read about it. I got some good video from Vintage Tractor Engineer on clutch work. Sometimes youtube will have useful info too.

My tip on the oil pan removal is to make sure ALL the bolts are out. There are a couple that tried to hide from me.
