TEA20 85MM Oil Filter, suction

regeh

I have a 1952 TEA20. I'm looking at replacing the oil filter: part number 825 164 M91 - this is mounted inside the oil pan on the side of the oil pan- NOT the bottom.
My problem is I cannot find anyone who sells a replacement part. I have had this tractor for 30 years and this has never been changed - I always thought that cleaning the inclined type oil filter on the spark plug side of the engine was all that was needed.
Or should I just take it out and clean it and replace? Any comments?
This is a sweet tractor, plows my driveway, hauls some some wood, runs better than I do and gives me great pleasure just to fire it up!

If your tractor is a true UK built TEA20 fitted with a Standard Motors engine then the ' Filter ' inside the oil pan is not really a filter as such .
It is called an '' Oil screen '' in the patrs manual and is primarily to stop large ' bits ' entering the oil pump . It comes out with the side plate as it is all one unit . The oil pickup tube enters this screen from one end . This is why you must remove the side plate and screen before dropping the sump .
There is definitely no need to replace it unless the screen is rusted or damaged , wash it in petrol and replace it .
This shows the reoval of the strainer from my FE35 , it is essentially identical to that of the TEA20.

If you find that you may need a new one. I believe I can get one. E-mail is open (Bottom right classic view) if you are interested?

Thanks for your help. I plan to remove and clean it as soon as it warms up a bit... even for Ontario, Canada this has been a long winter!
