Z134 oil pump woes

Hi, All,

Wondering if theres a better fix. Rebuilding Z134. The motor had died on the PO when the oil pump impeller came apart. Right where that stupid screw is.

Tonight I was reassembling the oil pump using the excellent kit from this site and the replacement impeller cracked while I was pressing on the drive gear. Right at the stupid screw.

I will order another kit but surely theres a better way?

Been too long since I did mine. However I did pack mine with vaseline to alleviate the possibility of cavitation upon start up.

When pressing the drive gear on MAKE SURE the SHAFT ONLY is supported at the pump gear end. I use a small nut as a spacer to stay away from the pump gear so it won't break.

yup thats what I'll do with the next $90. I am more irked about that stupid tapped hole and screw. Thats where the gear broke that ruined this engine, and thats where the gear broke that I was replacing. Just seems idiotic.
