Bang! Oops!

Hi,

Snapped L front wheel kingpin on my to-30. 60 years with a front end loader I guess its entitled to break. While I am waiting for parts, will the L front assy from my disassembled to-35 bolt on?

Also, is there any insight in this forum for the huge variation in prices for the replacement spindle? (I ordered one form this site). Some other sites have them for $225 dollars. Finally, any gotchas on the replacing?

thanks!

Bill

The TO35 axle parts will work on the TO30.

I haven't bought a new spindle in years. At the time, the new spindle for my TO30 caused the front wheel to lean outward (positive camber) to a much greater degree than any of my original spindles did. Not sure what new ones are like today. I eventually changed out the new one with a good used original. I would be interested in what the new one you put on looks like.

Thanks, I will let you know. I was actually going to change out the axle side as that may be easier when I am up to my knees in muck.

I had a similar experience to Dan's when I replaced the spindles on my TO-20 with the aftermarket version: much more positive camber. The difference is quite apparent in "before and after" photos.

My original spindles, and the spindle bushings, were both worn considerably - I wonder if that wear makes the front wheels look different?

I would have preferred to keep the original spindles, but the cost of welding them up and turning them back down to spec was prohibitive.
