BOLT THREAD TYPE

Hi
I am having trouble getting a nut to go onto a bolt seems that the thread is getting stripped on the nuts that I have tried thus far.
The bolt in question is on the rear axle case housing on the flange that bolts onto the rear of the tractor. I assumed these were a UNF thread on one end where the nut goes on and unc on the end of the bolt where it screws into the tractor chassis
These studs/bolts are very close to the casing which would make it very hard to re threat in place, I may be faced with having to drill it out.
Cheers

I'm not understanding your post, not sure WHY you'd want to drill out a stud that is not broken off, but possibly has questionable threads at it's outer end???

Hi
Well if I can not get a nut to go on without stripping itself then I was guessing the bolt may need to be removed for a new one that will accept a nut.

Hi Bob
Do you know the Thread type????
Cheers, I would need to have a replacement ready as the oil will come pouring out im guessing

Studs are expensive. Maybe you could split a nut in half, then clamp the
two halves to the stud and either chase the threads outward or back out the stud.
Or you could carefully grind the first thread, so you'd get a new start for the nut.
One of the other nuts will serve as a sample if you go to buy some spares.
