Screeching to-35

TO-35, horrible metal-on-metal screech from the front

Crank puller has a crack in a spoke and I bet that helps nothing.

I pulled the timing cover and the governor is OK. The aluminum gear that drives what I assume is the oil pump is beat up looking, and has enough fore and aft play that it strikes the inside of the oil pan.

About to pull the pan and look; commensta dn advice welcome.

I'll bet you have crank main and rod bearing damage. Oil pump drive gear should NOT have that much end play, I'll bet it came loose from the internal gear. No working oil pump means crank damage, depending on how long engine ran like that.

well it is what it is. I bought it as a non running tractor and anticipated an engine rebuild, so, meh. Any tips on pan removal? I have all the bolts out and its pretty stuck on there. Before I beat on it I thought Id ask.

not on the gage, but oil spewing out of the fitting where the gage tubing plumbed into the block. I was figuring on a rebuild. Well see if I got lucky or not.

(quoted from post at 18:27:47 01/05/18) Look the pan over carefully for hidden bolts, especially at the back.

Did it have any oil pressure?

I believe there are 18 bolts in the oil pan, make sure you have them all out. I fought and pried on a Z134 oil pan before I realize I missed 2 bolts.
