TEA20 Radius Arm Bolts

Reassembling the front spindles and axle having had new bushes and thrust bearings done, when fitting the radius arms I decided the old bolts were looking a little worse for wear so headed off to the engineering shop only to be lost in a sea of Nuts N Bolts a totally mind blowing experience to say the least.
Anyways I could not find an exact replica of mine however did find some of the same length and diameter and are High tensile rating of 8 (super tough im told).
The head is smaller on the new bolt as is the nut. Should this be a problem given the strength of the new ones. The other issues common to the original and replacement is that the thread is vulnerable to wear as it passes through the eye of the radius arm.
Any thoughts out there.

Fastenal.com has the heavy (taller and larger) headed bolts and matching nuts in varying sizes, although what you have will likely be fine.

No I'm in NZ we have Sparex here in NZ but
didn't see much in their catalogue for
TEA20, the reason I went to engineering
shop is they had UNC and UNF bolts.
I will ring Sparex today though.
Cheers

Last time I looked the bolts weren't available from Sparex either .

There is a work around for them but it takes some skill and patience . UNF nuts are available in the original Ferguson size while the bolt heads are not . To replicate from new you must buy over length bolts , cut off the head , thread the shank for the depth of the nut only and fit a nut in place of the head . Once fitted the top is welded and ground to replicate the original bolt .

I have no idea if this is as strong as the original so you must be advised , if using Cat 8 the steel is much tougher than the original mild versions so perhaps it works out in the wash .
I would be interested to hear thoughts from any with engineering expertise about this .

Yeah, but for now, you want to get it rolling, not 100% restored, so put those off the shelf bolts in. I am sure grade 8's won't do any harm to anything. Not on a front end, not with a 20 horse. Someday you will run across the proper bolts or brain donor, so for now.....
