1955 TO35 Major Miss

I have a 55 TO35, 6v system, new plugs (Autolite 3116), points, wires, and condenser within the last 20 hours of run time.
It had been running great. Then it developed a miss upon cold start which would clear up when warm. Now it has progressed to where it will run smoothly for a few minutes or seconds then go into a sputtering, coughing fit. It will die completely, then catch and run again.
I thought it may be due to bad gas so I drained the tank, sediment bowl, and float bowl. Refilled with fresh gas. No change.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Joe

I would say it would be a good idea to pull the plugs and see
what they are telling you...
Granted 20 hours isn't a long time on a tune up , but it can be
a short enough duration to foul one or all the plugs to some
degree.

If they are black with heavy soot then you know it's possibly a
flooding issue (carb out of adjustment or plugged air filter)
If they are oil soaked you may have a bad cylinder and just
need to clean or replace that plug often.

If the plugs look to be from a lean condition then start with a
gas flow test at the bottom of the carb bowl..
lots of flow , possible carb or float adjustment issue.

Missing can occur from both lean and rich conditions as well
as weak spark....
missing with black smoke is obviously a rich condition..
Missing that clears up when choke applied is obviously a lean
condition.

Good luck , let us know what you find.

Some points are bad to do this. Try a new set even if you just replaced. I buy point
from Sparex and never have trouble. Think this site may carry same.

Checked point gap. Was OK. Decided to put my old condenser back in. Problem went away. It's back to running great.
Thanks guys for all your input.
