let me rephrase my question....

are the bolts the same size on a MF 50 as that on a TO-35? bolts that attach swinging drawbar bracket to under side of tractor.

thanks

Good say Steve19438
I noticed the SOCKET that fits the NUTS (MF 35) that secure the hitch in question in fact requires a 15/16 Wrench.
For the most part,(there are exceptions) SAE sized fasteners fall into a category of such that the NUT on the fastener is USUALY (not always) the diameter of the BOLT/STUD/CAP SCREW plus have the diameter of the BOLT/STUD/CAP SCREW.

eg.5/8 diam. stud will require a 15/16 wrench on the Nut.

You probably new this already...:)

The original 5/8-18 hex head bolt heads had a 1-1/16" AF (Across Flats) dimension. Got an original Ferguson Spanner (Plough Wrench)? It is 11/16 x 1-1/16 open ends, same as the Ford 9N-17014 Plow Wrench. Today, the industry no longer makes those sizes standard, only the Ford Tractor specialty guru Dennis Carpenter repops exact-as-originals. You might find extra wide heads at McMaster-Carr. Nowadays the industry uses either 1" or 15/16" AF hex head bolts in the 5/8-18 TPI size. The Ferguson Swinging Drawbar is the 'horseshoe' style. Is this what you have?

All the hex heads on the bolts should be the same. I have got under tractors only to find bolts were switched out. I would take 15/16" 1" and 1 1/16" wrenches with me along with a breaker bar and pipe.
