I need my tractor to be able to lift a heavier load (1500 lbs). Is there a way to up grade to a larger hydraulic pump to allow this to happen? I need to pick up large round bales of hay on the rear end.

Sure. The best way to upgrade your TO30 is to buy a bigger tractor. Your TO30 just isn't big enough to handle that size round bales.

Speaking from experience here... It's not enough tractor for
1500lbs off the back end.... Been there , done that...

If you need to move them badly and are in a predicament then
I suggest getting one of those tow behind bale dollys with an
electric winch.. Short of that you should probably be looking at
a tractor that weighs no less than 5000lbs .

The hydraulic system can only do so much... then you have
the 400lbs of counter balance on the front you'll need...

I bought some bales once my JD 790 would not lift with the 3point bale spike, I had to raise the front with the loader then let it back down to move them :p it would hold them up but not lift them

Not enough tractor as others said. Plus the deciding factor is when front end comes off the ground. Having said that, if you just need
to move one or two bales, or not many anyway, and not on regular basis, you can put some significant weight on front bumper and hook up
to the bale and back up any hills. Be prepared to steer with brakes. We move round bales with a TO-35. It isn't ideal, or easy, but by
backing up hills it can be done... if that's all you got.
