Tractor Jack Question...

The sale bill for a local farm auction lists an "8N Tractor Jack." There's not a picture, or any other information.

Would the same jack that works on an 8N also work on a TO-20? If there's a tag, is there something specific to look for?

There are two pieces for the jack to be complete. The one piece goes under the rear axle and other part of this same piece hooks into the two lift arms. The other piece goes up towards the front and these two pieces are usually hooked together with a piece of chain. The most common type has large U shaped brackets that go up under the rear axle trumpets. There is another style that has much smaller u shaped cups that go under the front of the lift arms where the arms hook onto the rear end housing. If it goes for $25 buy it I will give you $50 if all pieces are there. HA HA

The most common type has large U shaped saddles that fit up under the rear axle trumpets and the other part of this same piece hooks onto the balls of the lift arms. The other piece is much smaller and fits (I think) just in front of the oil pan. There is another jack with a similar style but has much smaller u cups that fit up under the front of the lift arms where they hook into the rear axle housing.

Thanks, Richard.
If there's a Dearborn tag, will it work on a TO-20? I've read some confusing information on the forum. (The tractors in the auction are all Fords.)

Jack are the same. Some with Ferguson tags others with Dearborn. The jacks are for
widening the wheels out. Picks up the tractor off the ground with power lift. Tops $100
and down. Seen them sell for $25. Most people don't know what they are for.

Mine is a Ferguson, still has the tag, works on my Fords.
If you buy a Dearborn and want a Ferguson, maybe we can trade.
I'm not concerned which brand I have, but I do like to have one.

When I bought mine the guy had no idea what it was, he was using it to support a compost barrel. I described the front support and chain and he said that it might be in the shed, so we had a look and sure enough it was complete. I offered him $50.00 and said I would build him a stand for his compost barrel, he was happy as was I. BTW it is a Ferguson.

I would love to see some detailed pics and maybe some dimensions, maybe I could fab a reasonable version that would work. I have $50, who wants to sell one? :p

I don't have one I would sell Indy, but I have some info.
My email should be open at the email link here on YT.
Send me your email address and I can send you pics/dimensions.

FYI: I checked out the tractor jack at the auction: no tag, pretty rusty (appeared to have been painted red at one time), and one of the pins where the lift arm attaches was rusted out.
It was complete, however, with the front section and chain.
It was stacked on a pallet with lift arms, running boards, etc. Might have been a bargain, but I didn't have the patience to wait around for it to sell. (Plus, it would need some repairs.)

That's too bad. Local tractor jockey has the back half of a Ferguson
jack he wants $40 for. I told him I'd look at it if he still has it the
next time I get up there. Seems like I'm there a lot. LOL
