TO 20 2 speed

I have a TO 20 that has a 2 speed (high speed) transmission. The shift lever has what appears to be The brand name of Hupp cast in it. Are they rare? This is the only one I have seen but there are not many Ferguson's in my area. I think the Ford's from that era outnumber them about 20 to 1. Also does anyone know the speed ranges of them?
 
that should be a three speed . when the leaver is in the middle pull it out to the right and up will give you low gear

Scroll through the Shermans down to the Hupp. If your is a combo, have fun. Combo's came in two basic ranges.
The low range combo had a top speed of about 15 MPH. The high range combo ran out around 25 MPH.
Early Hupps were also prone to breaking gears internally and hanging between rangers when shifting. The later Hupps were designed a bit more like the Shermans and had more durability and ease of use.
Hupps generally have been Ebay selling for 500 to 750 and Shermans Ebay going from 750 to 1200 roughly.
There have been some variations to those prices and season of the year also has an impact.

have a TO20 with a Hupp HI/LO in it, I bought it for parts 4 days ago but I have it up n running, it runs very well and the Hupp works as it is supposed to. but now I still need a hood and grill LOL, I will keep this TO20, I have 2 TE20s, its been interesting seeing the differences
 

a very good question, I hope somebody answers, I would like to know too, splitting the tractor seems like a lot to check oil o_O
 

I took mine out on the road today, first time I had it in high range and 4th gear, on my dirt road I wasnt brave enough to open it ll the way up, thing felt like it was flying ;)
 
Ya' don't. It is a pre-fill upon installation and after that the lube action of the main transmission gears keeps it filled.
 
also the PTO will turn way slower in low but i like it when i cut marsh grass it will take less power then in regular drive

I'm going to ask to hijack this post a bit please. I'm relatively new here. I have a TO-20 forklift conversion and I mostly started reading this forum to learn a bit about repairing the TO-20 parts of the forklift. Anyway my question here is; do all the Sherman and Hupp transmissions referenced fit the Fergusons as well as the Fords, or only specific models? Obviously I would be interested in one for my situation as the standard "reverse" speed can be a bit much for a forklift sometimes. Thanks.
 
Shermans are model specific to the tractor. Hupp is not. Your forklift should be equipped with a Sherman reverser
trans. One was on Ebay about a month ago. Check sold history and you might find it. First one I have seen in
about 15 years.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately no reverser but that would be the ideal one to find. I will keep my eye out on ebay.
