Hello Fello Fergie owners. I recently purchased a 1952 TEA20-85 Fergie and I am looking for a front bumper and possible some front weights. I am located near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Any information would be helpful.

Hi. Just a comment. Fergies did not come with front bumpers. They are common on Ford/Fergusons though. The for did not have a tilting hood, so a bumper did not get in the way.
There were some add-ons though. You want one that is hinged to swing away.Take a look here. http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ferg&th=127533

Do you have a need for weights? They generally attach on the inside of the front wheels. Something like these here. http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=mf&th=160827

Hi Ron, thanks for your feedback and insights. I certainly like the idea of the swing away bumper, just a matter of finding one.....or making one!!!! Likewise with the front wheels weights, except most likely not something one could make. Best.

Ferguson front wheel weights fitted to a 1952 TED20 [ tractor vapourinsing oil engine ]

There was a front weight tray made by Ferguson UK especially for the TE20 tractors , it is an ugly and cumbersome thing that sticks out almost three feet from the grill . It is more of a front mounted caryall in design . Hardly ever seen due to its limited appeal .

I made my own weight rack for the front of this TO-35.
It is merely 1/2" plate that is drilled and then bolted to the underside with the factory threaded holes (4).
Then I welded 2" angle iron to the plate and then added two all thread studs to the end of the 2" angle iron so as to have the weight plates secured.

The weight plates are 12"X24" and each plate is actually 2 half inch thick by 12"x24" plates welded together and then drilled so they stab over the all thread rods.
Each 12"x24" plate is 40lbs , so if two are welded together as mine are each plate is 80lbs.

I don't normally like to use front weights on a small ferguson as the front ends albeit tough , shouldn't be taxed too much for pasture duty.
If I use the ferguson for moving round bales (1200lbs) with the 3pt bale fork it needs 5 of the plates ( which is actually 10 because they are doubled up) this works out to roughly 450lbs including the mount plate etc..

I take the weights off except for one when I don't require them as it is fairly hard on the old girl lol.

I should also mention that building it in this manner it allows me to still start the tractor with the hand crank which was something I wanted.

just my opinion,
little fergy's can do a lot of work and hold up well if not overloaded.

but when you start putting front end loaders on them and start adding weight to the front axle so you can lift more weight.

you are just setting youself up for an early breakdown of the front axle or the lift system,
"my opinion only"

find you a front end bumper like this one on my TO35
it protects the front of the tractor in the woods and you can hitch a wagon or trailer to it for better backing,

but after you change out one of these front axle bushing you have a new respect for the front axle lube process and front axle. I have seen a small ford with front end loader, too large of bucket and the axle broke, taking the tractor to the ground, the hold front of the tractor had to be replace, cost more than the tractor was worth.

if you want a swing away front bumper guard, you could have a mechanic cut the bumper frame in the picture, just behind the uprights, weld in a large hinge on each side with a pull pin,

if you need to open the hood, just pull one pin and swing it out of the way or pull both pins and take the bumper off leaving the mounting brackets in place.

there was one make for fergy's back in the day built that way, but finding one on this side of the pond would be almost impossible.

here is a picture of another swing away front bumper guard.

every TO with tilting front hood should have come with this front bumper guard.
would have had a lot less banged up hoods today,
