Tea20 tire sizes

Haven't been on in awhile, but tractor is coming together finally! Getting to the point of setting it back on the ground and questioning wheel/tire sizes. Rears are pretty straight forward, but tractor had 16" wheels on the front when I got it. I'm seeing 4-19's come up a lot but a lot of photos I see sure look like 16" wheels. Where both an option? I have a lot of blood sweat and tears into it and want to finish it up correct. Thanks

The "NORTH AMERICAN FERGUSON PARTS BOOK" has parts #'s for both 16" and 19" front Rims for the TEA-20:

The Original "ENGLISH FERGUSON SERVICE MANUAL" Blue in Colour, has info on only the TEA-20 as per pictures: 19 " front Wheels:

Lists both for TEA 20.

Ours has 16 inch wheels (6.00 x 16 tyres) - original as far as I know. I think they came on later ones.

My parts book (01/08 - August)/1957 lists 827168M1 but doesn't give dimensions.

My experience in New Zealand was TEA Fergusons all had 19" on front and 10" or 11"x28" rear. They changed when the 35 came out to 600x16 front, not totally sure about rear, but think it remained the same. This change came at the same time as dual range six speed gearbox, live hydraulics and PTO, (two stage clutch) depth control and PTO shaft changed from 1 1/8" to 1 3/8". Also had better seat and changed grill. Early 1950s I think. I believe there was a lift in HP too.

Yeah it seems the USA had the TO-35- petrol only, live pto, 2 range box, mass produced in '55- a couple years before the commonwealth FE35. And the well known 23C.
Pictures of USA built TO20's and 30's in the early 50's with 600x16's. Fords had 16 inch many years earlier. So a yankee thing to start with? I bought what was left of a '59 MF TO35 that had 19's, original or not-who know's. I 'think' 19" was an option into the early 60's. I have 3 sets, all foam filled, I call it organic power steering.

Tony Tony Tony I will have to have a talk with you at Cedar Falls. There is no such thing as a MF TO35. There is a Ferguson TO35, there is a Massey Ferguson MF35. Remember, Ferguson built the TO35, Massey Ferguson built the MF35 and Massey Ferguson, Inc. built them both. Buy you books send you to school, etc, etc, etc. You will be at Cedar Falls, right????

Richard...... i am very frustrated with this MacBook not letting me post picture right now, but ... oh you remember it.... my 23c diesel that we all love and admire so much... is a 1959 -so Massey Ferguson... with a MF dash tag SDM201331.... TO-35... i am wondering when they quit printing them like that- it is an MF, not MHF or HF tin plate, but does have TO on it.
I don't know if it was Jason who told me, or i read someplace that these were called TO-35's till 1962 or3? Probably when Perkins came into the game...
This #$%^& MacBook... a picture should be in the archives here, but i posted so many pictures over the years... better yet Richard... you give me money, come here with your trailer... and you can study that tag.. and everything else that don't fall off the trailer on the way home...
Hey i haven't left the county in months, I really doubt i can get to the meet... but I hereby volunteer Miner09 to help you climb ladders, hang banners and pound fence posts. Just don't tell him till he gets there.

Tony, I am getting more confused every time somebody brings something up like you just did. I was very content thinking I was right now you just added to the confusion. Boy oh boy!!! I suppose you have that in Black & White? HA HA HA I am under the impression the MF 35 did not come on the scene until middle of May 1960. Figure out something. I want to see you in Cedar Falls.

Lonnie, I owned a farm tire shop for 22 years. I think they came both ways, later had 550 or 600X16"'s on the front. I know I put a lot more 600x16's on them than 19".

Thanks for all the helpful replies. The 16" wheels I have seem in pretty good shape so 6.00-16's should arrive at the tire shop tomorrow. Thanks again!

Looks great ! :)
A good choice of front tyre , the ones that have ' bars' running across them do nothing but fling mud and water spray right up at you .
16 '' wheels were almost always used when loaders were fitted to the T20 range . They are perfectly correct and acceptable from the aspect of authenticity.
