What's it worth?

I have a Ferguson 1952 TO30 I would like to sell. The engine needs a rebuild and is off the tractor on an engine stand. Except for the engine problem the tractor is very solid. Rear tires very good condition. Hydraulics worked good when parked. Would like a ballpark figure on value. Thanks

In that case since motor is off and needs rebuilt you gonna have to find a particular buyer that will want it and willing to invest in it, your going to have a problem there so now your looking at a parts tractor at probable scrap price, $200-300 as a whole, if you start parting it out you will get more for it but that can be a big hassle doing it that way and end the end you'll end up having to scrap what's left of it after its been picked over, good luck with it

If the engine will still run I would put the tractor back together if you are going to sell it. You should be able to ask a higher price if a buyer can drive it and see how everything is functioning even if it is smoking.

It seems not many people want these old tractors anymore. Will probably end up loading it up for the Chinese metalyard. Thanks for the feedback.

ralph I would like to see some pics of tractor and where it is located. you can send them by text to 423-677-5841 or call me about it thanks joe also can email

The head has been pulled off and checked for cracks, etc by a local Napa machine shop. I used the tractor for about a year before water was discovered in the oil. It was not started and used after that discovery, which leads me to believe there is nothing wrong with the block. I think the problem lies with leakage between the block and the jugs. I would just like to sell it to someone who has the experience and know how to fix it. Thanks for your reply.

Ralph, where in general are you located? I don't have a parts tractor and my be interested?

I'd put it on Craigslist as a parts tractor, and if you get inquiries about specific parts, sell them, at as much as you think you can get. Then let the whole thing go to scrap when you are done selling parts. If you were close to me, I"d make you an offer for certain parts, or maybe the whole thing. If, as you said, the wheels and tires are good, those might bring some quick money. People are always looking for starters and generators and fenders and radiators which are all easy to dismantle. If the steering is good, the steering box will bring something. The thing is, shipping big items is tough. You can ship a starter, but not a wheel and tire. Thus a local site like Craigslist for your area might be the ticket. Get what you can get and scrap the rest. My two cents.
