35 dash (again)

how am I supposed to keep the throttle rod from popping out of the plate? got me stumped.

Move the clamp so that it compresses the spring, then tighten the clamp. The rod is held in the plate by pressure from the spring against the back of the dash and the clamp.

some progress. I put a vice grip on the throttle rod and hooked a ratchet strap to the VC and the front spindle arm and got the rod as far forward as I could. then compressed spring and tightened wire clamp. so far so good.
 
Make sure the u-bolt and spring assembly on that rod at the front of the tractor isn't slid to far forward.

I never loosened any of that. I have not measured but the rod looks like it protrudes through the bracket about the same of my other 35's.
