I have tested aboput all I can, with my 'no-charging'. I found bad connections at the terminals
on the generator, no continunity from wire ends to generator studs. thought had it !! removed
wires, filed the post nuts & terminals, good test then. Do get some volts on gen term now. 1 to 2v !
get 6v if I push regular relay in. I don't think system is working, as the engine dies if I pull
a battery wire. help. Thanks

Have you tried polarizing the generator? If not, try it before going further.

With the engine off, run a jumper wire from the A terminal of the generator to the non-grounded battery post. Just touch the wire, enough to get a spark.

If that doesn't make it charge, test the generator.

Remove the wires from the generator terminals. Connect the volt meter across the A terminal of the generator to ground. Start the engine, bring the RPM up. Momentarily ground the F terminal while watching the volt meter. You should get about 35 volts.

If no voltage, or very low voltage, the gen is not working.

If you do get voltage, reconnect the leads, start the engine, bring the RPM up. Check the voltage across the battery. For a 6v system, you should get around 7.5 to 8 volts. For a 12v system, around 13.5 to 14v.

If no voltage increase the regulator is not working. You might save it by cleaning the contacts.
