removing muffler

I want to replace my muffler & pipe (one assy), I have the 3 bolt to the manifold.
3 -1/4" allen head bolts. They look very 'stuck', Any tips on getting them to turn ? ?
I presume heat would help.

Heat will be best but if you don't have a torch you can use brake fluid on bolts and let set overnight. Apply several times. When removing you may need to turn a little then go back and forth until you get rust loose.

Thanks Miner09, would you reccomend a air impact with socket allen over a hand torqued allen....

An air wrench will snap it right off. Use heat, work it by hand back and forth, once you get it to move at all. Back and forth with penetrating oil. Use lots of patience also.

As others have said good luck with that operation, removing those three rusty exhaust manifold bolts,

I believe those three bolts were brass bolts originally, dissimilar metals would not get stuck, but time and heat would eat them away and they were normally replace with steel bolts,

People did not know or have the right bolts available, maybe not knowing what they were setting the next guy up for, that had to take the bolts Out!!!!!

Be careful with any open flame heat source as you are so close to the carburetor and fuel tank,
I finally just drilled them out and replaced with brass bolts, if I ever need to change them, they will either come apart or I can break them off and replace without all the issues of trying to get the bolts to back out of the manifold flange,
Good luck,

I replaced the exhaust manifold on my TO35 tractor a few years ago, before I installed the manifold I when ahead and drilled out those holes so I could install brass bolts, so far no problems,
