Red Indicator Light on Dash

I was having trouble with tractor killing under load or on sharp turns and checked for loose wires. The wire behind the red indicator light on the dash that normally lights up when the key is moved to the on position was loose, so I tied the wires together-2 reds and 1 yellow-to bypass what appeared to be a damaged fixture. The tractor started and ran great for a while. I stopped to do something else and found the tractor would not shut off with the key do I killed by disconnecting the coil wire, replaced the coil wire, and put the charger on the tractor for about 2 hours. Now there is no reaction at all when I push the starter button and the charger pegs out when attached.
What happened? What is the fix?

What tractor?
6 or 12 volt?
Alternator or generator?
Positive or negative ground?
What was the "fixture" that you bypassed?

TE 20 original English, Neg ground. Fixture was a ruby colored indicator on the dash that would light when key was on indicating it was ready to start with separate starter button. 6 volt system original.

Charge indicator should only have 2 wires going to it.

Switch connection going to charge indicator should also have wire going to coil.

If you have 3 wires connected and it won't shut odd with the key, sounds like you have hot switch wire tied in with charge indicator and coil wire.
