Brush mowing with my TO-30 the 3 point is so sensitive
its hard to maintain the height that I want .
It is creeping up or down all the time.
any suggestions

There is no position control on a TO- series Ferguson. Search the archives and you will find a way to get some position control referred to as "Marlowe"s Method" for the contributor who posted it.

Otherwise you"ll need to buy (Zane Thang or Fergy Positioner)or make a position control device (again see archives) or buy some leveling chains to set the height of your mower deck.

On my TO20 I hand tighten the top link yoke against the spring plus a we little bit more
when using the bush hog and 2 point blade. This helps a bunch but is not perfect.
If I set my stops right it is pretty controllable.

(quoted from post at 18:33:05 07/24/17) The lever on the right side raises and lowers the 3 point.
what are you referring to .
??

I'll answer from my experience with my own TO-30.

A TO-30 has excellent draft control. By using that lever I can set the draft of a ground engaged implement. For example, when a plow begins to pull hard, the 3 pt raises slightly to reduce draft back to the set amount. This is quite nice as it keeps the tractor from just spinning out when the plow hits a spot of tighter ground. And there is no need for me to manually adjust depth if the ground changes--it happens automatically.

But on a TO-30 there is no feedback loop for position-- or height-- of the three point. I can lift it, or drop it, or find a spot in the middle that is close to just right, but if it creeps up or down there will be no feedback to prevent it from just creeping continually until suddenly I realize the implement is far too high or low.

It is possible to add the devices Jerry mentioned to create this feedback. Then if the lift starts to rise, the tractor responds by dropping back to the preset level. If the lift starts to fall, the tractor bumps it back up. This is quite handy for many 3 point applications. I made and installed one, and it will hold the three point dead level with no movement up or down--until, of course, I pull the level to raise or lower the implement.

The "Marlowe"s Method" Jerry referenced is in the archives and is a way to use the draft control mechanism to keep a mower at a set height without needing additional devices on your tractor. This works if the mower has a fixed top link and a tail wheel. I have used it with success in certain applications.

Any questions, please ask.

The to30 has no position control it's either all the way up or all the way down.you have to have chains that hook onto the brushhog that runs up to the top link.then you simply adjust the chains accordingly to the cutting height you want

first off you need the right bush hog they are not all the same. top link has to be stationary IT CAN NOT BE LOOSE as moving back and forth and it must have a tail wheel.reply to these questions and i will help more. you do not need chains or anything like that if you have the right hog

The TO-30 that I had, if I raised the lever half way, the brush cutter would raise half way. I had purchased the tractor restored, and the guy who did it owned an auto repair shop - kept one bay open for working on his current project. I only had to fix one small thing that started acting up after buying it. Other than that it was perfect working order. I never had a problem with the brush cutter position - ever. I could lower the lever all the way down and the cutter would just follow the contours of the ground. Or I could raise it slightly and make a higher initial cut, and the cutter never changed its position by itself.

So this tells me that there MUST be an adjustment that allows that lever to work very well and reliably. I didn't do the work on it, so I don't know how to adjust it. But I cut many acres and some of them nearly bounced me off the seat! But the adjustment on there was amazing!! ...Maybe it had some aftermarket item installed? I don't know. Only know it worked great.
