TEF20 lift pump fix before spill timing

I realised that even if I put the fuel pump back on I cannot spill time it untill I get the lift or feed pump to work.
After a very brief examination of the pump I ordered a seal kit for it.
Well it turned out to be a very user friendly job and in about 25 minutes after taking the pump off the block the kit was installed.
Im glad that I got the kit as the pump was very badly blocked with debris.

I really want to know more history of this tractor. It seems to have been neglected to the point it must have been an experiment in what not to do to the max.
It would be more than nice to get ALL that crud out of there -totally. Cause any of it will cause more confusing issues once it get going again. Fix/clean it- NOW.....

Yes, the pump went from the last picture to the engine cleaning gun filled with ATF for a solid blasting. before I put the kit through the pump.

Thank you Dieseltech, I didnt even think of that. The whole "Time a diesel engine fuel pump" has me a bit out of sorts, having never done it before.
I usually suffer from over confidence, this is new for me.

I found that my lift pump was not pushing fuel to the injection pump so I have ordered a new one, it's Saturday and I dont get post between Friday 12:00 and Tuesday 12:00 so looks like the lift pump wont be getting replaced this weekend.
I tried checking that I had installed the lift pump kit, which I bought before, properly that the valves were in the correct orientation and it all seems fine, but it still will not pump fuel. So I decided to see where else I have issues in the fuel line from tank to injection pump.
Turns out 3 places I put a gentle stream of compressed air into the injection pump line that I had ready for spill timing and got air leaking from the rear of the injection pump and the rear banjo bolt onthe second fuel filter and the front banjo bolt on the first fuel filter. The banjo bolts only seem to need nipping up. However the rear cover on the injection pump is missing a cork or Knebar seal. Im not sure how I missed it but incompetence and night shifts are a heady mix.
Can anyone ID the seal cork or knebar that goes behind the injection pump filter cover, pictured, I will need one.

Diesel tech, your idea worked very well, a 20ltr of diesel sat ontop of the tractor with adirect hose to the injection pump.
So I got fuel to inj line 1 free flowing and rotating the pump with a 1 1/8 socket to time it all went just as easy as reading the instructions. But it seems as if the pump is not only leaking fuel into its own sump, the spill timing never stops spilling. I can get it to go from flow to fast drip but no stop.
Sorry for the photos, not enough shade from the sugar cane in my outdoor workspace.
I will try and post the fuel flow followed by a pic of the spring position at that point. The fast drip was not caught well by the camera.
