reinstalling banjo

I do not apply any sealing compound on the threads:

There is a SEALING RING on both sides of the BANJO FITTING. I have never had a leak in the area of this fitting:

The SEALING RINGS seal around the outside diameter of the threaded attachment device:

Hate to highjack this post but I wanted to ask you about your fuel filters. I saw a post you made a while back asking about a screw on secondary filter assembly. Did you ever get it done and if so any issues?

I could not find your email you sent me with decal measurements from April.

you can email me at [email protected]

thanks

Scott

If it leaks, check the thickness of the copper washers. I had to replace the fuel filter housing on a FE35 23C 4 Cyl diesel. On reassembly it leaked at the banjo joint of the fuel return line to the tank. Eventually, I discovered that my replacement copper washers were thinner than the original and that the banjo nut had 'come up against the stops' before being tight enough. Putting two washers on one side solved the problem, but not before a serious amount of head scratching.

Original washers were of the ' Doughty ' type , a hollow copper washer that crushed and conformed to shape when tightened. Also used on the fuel taps of TED20s . They can't be re used easily or very effectively.
Two red fibre washers like those used by plumbers on tap bodies will work very well .
