how do this work?

Seems like you'd mount the unit to your tractor with the chain side pointing rearward and downward and the chain would get hooked on the tongue of the implement. The chain would tighten as the 3pt tried to lift the weight of the implement but the front of the tongue wouldn't be able to rise because of the drawbar so the 3pt would in effect be trying to lift the implement as it pivoted on the drawbar and that weight would land on the rear tires. The weight gained on the rear tires would be removed from the front of the implement and that may not be good if penetration of the ground is wanted. Seems like you'd want a sturdy attachment point on the implement and one that wouldn't allow the chain to slide on the tongue back to the hitch point.

That's my speculation, though. I'm thinking this could be simulated somewhat easily with a carryall, I might try it next time I disk. It would make a nice collector's item, I'd think also! Don't imagine too many were sold.

Steve, that is pretty cool
I would buy it if it were close by as it must be quite rare, but it will work,

The same principle as traction booster on a AC tractor, my D14 had that, if the rear wheels started spinning you push up on the traction booster lever and the weight of the implement was applied to the rear wheels, normally you just pulled on through,
It worked,

My Uncle has one. He describe the use of it pretty much as Amatt did.

I borrowed it once, put it on my tractor, and took it to a farm show. Put a sign on it asking people to let me know if they'd ever used one before. Never heard a word from anyone.

I'm guessing it was an idea that just never caught on.

This is from my 1969 Mf advertisement brochure. Sorry folks, I can not get the pic right side up?

Fits Massey Ferguson 100 series with power control and newer.

It works very fine with the trailers at least used in England and Scandinavia, where you have 1/3 of the trailerweight on the rear end of the tractor, and 2/3 of the trailer weight on the trailer axle.

The MF 100 series with power control has a special function for this, you mount that thing on the 3 point linkage, and hook the chain down on the bar on the trailer that is on the hook under the rear end of the tractor. Then, you use the power control to lift the 3 point linkage, and this gives as pointed out by the others more weight on the rear wheels and less on the front wheels, giving better traction.

But, I guess you can used it on other implements and different trailers too.
