That guy looking at you in the mirror. Take it apart, don't lose anything, soak it in.... tons of choices, auto zone carb soak smells just like brake fluid- watch a few you tubes of people doing one- right or wrong, watch what they're doing. and do yours. Hey you've tackled tougher jobs than this thing the last couple years!
 
no problem doing MS carbs but these carter things are a different animal. they don't like me and I don't like them.

I replaced my Carter with a MS I purchased on flea bay for about $160. The rebuild kit for the carter I had was going to be over $60 and with my limited ability in rebuilding it, I chose to bite the bullet and just buy a new one. Turned out to be a good choice as it is running great.

I had to adjust the linkage a little but did not have to replace or alter it. Governor linkage had to adjusted also, but no major changes were required.
