Hi All

On my engine rebuilt ted20 ( not rebuilt hydraulics). I had it out slshing (bush hoging) to do some testing and all. After the beast got hot from slas
hing for a while the rear hydraulics would not lift. I have not had the slasher on the tractor before, but have used the hydaulics with a scarifier and they are responsive and works good. Wonder what could be the cause of them to stop working. I dont think it was due to mechanical issues like a loose top spiring etc :?:

cheers

Was thinking about you earlier this week!
met a Shiela, the same height, weight, hair... style?? teeth... and features of... the feral kid in Mad Max 2, Road Warrior. She wore 'normal?' clothing... not sewn up rabbit fur..... but close enough to keep me intrigued !! Didn't have the same laugh either... did talk English rather well.. yank accent, but what can ya do....
So what label of beer you got sloshing in the arsend? Old stuff will be too thin to keep pressure when hot- thought you'd be getting chilly by now? This is why we been slowly converting to 10 or 15w- 30 or 40 engine oil. And how does the lever re-act on the quadrant? Is there a sweet spot where she will lift? Does it shudder? I'm with you mate, it probably isn't much wrong...

Yeah man its freezing here, lows of 10 c and 23 to 25 C during the day, brrrrr.

The arsend i guess has got 15w40, its clean and think was change by PO, but had not thought about the oil, betta give it the viscosity check  or give the old fella a call.

RRR to many tractors to remember about bloody quadarent sweeeet spots, just like your aussie sheila's sweet spots cobba

Think Ill pull the side covers and give my new tiny inspection camera a good using on the in-ards of the rear end..

i ll add this to the above. I am about to order parts for another rebuild.

I need to fix a leaky hydraulics on another tractor. arms will leak down with the tractor running and a decent load on the arms.

I have had the side plates off and there seems to be dripping, squirting oil out of the piston and some swirling around the rear of the pump.

Whats the situation with these piston, replace rings and all is good or do you normal do piston as well, I remember reading something on here about piston etc but cannot find it.

If you are ordering one set of rings for the piston- order another now too, it might save you shipping.
No matter whats going on in these, once apart, you'll see if the piston or cylinder is knackered- either way, you will have the rings ready and paid for. I just hone out the cylinder, look for a crack etc. it'll have ridges all the way down i bet, got to polish them out.
I wouldn't mention the trouble and strife if i was you mate... she's now closer to you than me!!!
:D

I pulled the side cover and my hydraulic piston is leaking a constant streem from the rear and the top, so going with stuffed rings.

I have not pulled a top cover of yet, any hints, i Know not to undo the top 4 bolts cause they hold the piston. Also i need to undo one side of the control fork ? that connects to the pump? Does that cover it? :D

I wonder if some one did this on you tube? Learn from their mistakes!
And this is why you own 2 jib cranes. That casing is not all that heavy, but akward to get at without pulling your back. Yeah easy if there was no wheels, fenders etc etc.
A helper is nice too, especially when putting it back on so's the lever doesn't get hung up down there.... so go buy him some beer. Twice.

I pulled the Top Cover last week on my MF FE 35 X:

This lifting Jig worked perfect:

PCP would leave that tube on there when done. He'd put a banana seat on there and plunk his Sheila in back like it was Toe Cutter's Norton... trouble is, Mel Gibson will have no problem catching up to them...

Tony some would say your a thinking man... You tube, Brilliant...

PS.. we dont really call em shelia's anymore, we call em de bitches....

Thanks for pix John, yep got a block and tackle so will be uaing that...

IN you 2 nd pix, what is the cut out in the rear fender, is it stock, i am guessing its for storage.

Sounds about right. The only tool in Australia in use everyday is a church key. with a magnet or on a key chain, it don't need a toolbox. I 'think' those fender tool boxes didn't come out till??? 1955? 56? Some one else reading this will know for sure.
Maximillian Rottencowski? Wasn't that Mad Max's given name? Isn't that Bernadette on Big Bang Theory's dad's name? Yes PCP, you can see i put my brain to good use studying great and important things..... right now, i am racking it trying to grow a sodden' potato! My old place -and my 'ancestral home' both on the Canadian border, could grow a bushel out of a bloody peal. Not in Mass or Oklahoma... soils and weather are too much like your wop wops...

Tractor is a 1963 MF FE 35 X:

Fender with tool box is from one of my 1951 TEA-20 Parts Tractor:

Tool box was an add on:
