bell housing transmission

1952 tea20 right hand drivers side at th top of the bell housing or close to the transmission, there is a lever welded to a shaft, looks factory, with a ball on the end of the shaft, hesitate to engage it because I don't know what its for. Could this be for the clutch system? Any help is appreciated.

Some one on here will eventually read this and know, but it must be either a 'Hupp' or 'Howard'- or some other gear-up, or gear down, transmission in there. One was on right one was on left? We'll find out soon. Yeah if it runs good as it is, don't touch it till we know.

go to smiths old tractors. then clk on Sherman transmissions then scroll down to hupp.
