MF 50 radiator cap correct pressure

Hi,

I have an old MF 50 and the radiator cap says 14 on it but I am wanting to be certain. The cap I took off I tested and it won't take any pressure at all.

Any advice please and thank you.

The 14 cap sounds a little high, think 7 is the standard.

Does it have the original radiator? With some age on it? Be careful putting too much pressure on it, leaks will start happening.

If it is an aftermarket radiator, anyone's guess as to what cap will fit, but they don't need a lot of pressure.

It is 6 or 7 something in that range

Last time I had the radiator in my 1957 TO35 worked on, a few holes patched,
The service technician said just leave the radiator cap loose, this radiator in good condition as mine is meaning clean will provide plenty of
cooling capacity for my gas tractor,
Have left the cap loose for years now with no problems even rotary cutting in the bottoms in tall weeds,
My tractor came with a factory Ferguson front grill screen, this screen really protects the radiator from getting stopped up with grass and weed
seed during the fall,
