Neat looking tractor

browsing the internet today, came across this. If it wasnt so far, and if the CAD-US exchange didnt hurt so much i think this would be pretty neat to have.

David Lorey of FENA got one that originally looked atlot like this. It was at Westover AFB in Mass, then had a longer history in other jobs,- the US military has to offer unwanted or obsolete equipment to local state and town public works departments, we eventually get em thru auctions etc.
This being USAF, in Wyoming... i wouldn't touch it. Probably radioactive...
holy cow tho, from my gang in Sherwood Park to the middle of Montana was a long long day, further south is another half a day... but for a military vehicle collector, like the 'Maple Leaf Up' gang, this would be a good addition, to pull your AVRO CF100 around the show grounds.

I'm guessing from the fancy pipe work maybe a cab heater? Didn't know they were using massey's for tugs thought it was fords.

Yeah they been there about 15 years. They like it better than Montreal.
There is a long beautiful lake alongside route 90 in Wyoming, no boats, lush grass all round, like an oasis. I get gas, nice day out, i say, hey how come there's no body fishing on that lake back there, no fish? Guy sez 'oh there's nice fish in there, tons of em. Just can't eat em. That water come from a uranium mine, so it is radioactive.... so that is my standing 'Wyoming' joke.
With a 3 point and quadrant, it must have been a mower. Not a bad price at all. Just like the price of a house... location location location.

Very cool! What didn't they do with these tractors?
I imagine that cab would only serve to amplify engine/exhaust noise but would be very nice for moving snow with. Speaking of exhaust, wouldn't want to put a horizontal exhaust on it!

Well ya see there Inno... this could do double duty as a submarine... since it already has a snorkel... oh yea my cab drove me nuts this winter... the noise, the fumes, it has a leak in the horizontal muffler, so yea it throws heat up, along with the bad stuff.
I doubt these did snow, for sidewalks, you had a million guys with a million shovels to deal with that... and for runways, there were bigger contraptions-
Here's a story- back in the 70's, on a town only a short way to the Quebec border, snow drifts were more than the town plows could handle. So the air force-US- offered to lend their rotaries once the military duties were wrapped up at Plattsburgh, and the cold war was on back then, so they had to get back to the runways before the next storm.
So, you can guess the end to this story... a Catholic priest disappeared. So was his mailbox. His car was in the garage, personal items all in place, church funds still in the bank... no one's wife is missing... big mystery.... till springtime.... crows were in the same spots a couple hundred feet off the road... day after day... no deer, just shreds of black cloth... and a letter stuck in the hay... that was suppose to be put in the mailbox the day he went missing... nowadays a story like that would 'go viral'. Back then, barely made the local news..
