I installed a GE 3 wire alternator and I thought I followed the instructions but have a problem. I have a starter type ignition switch. I ran a wire directly from the hot side of the starter solenoid to the Bat. terminal on the alternator. Made a jumper from the 2 blade to the Bat. Terminal. Then I ran a wire from the ignition terminal on the switch to a resistor that was suggested and the a wire from the resistor to the #1 blade. Was told I needed this resistor or the engine would not shut off when turning the switch to off. Well The tractor starts, runs and the alternator works but when turning the switch to off to kill the engine it keeps running. I have to unplug this wire from the alternator to kill the engine. I know the alternator works as I can disconnect battery cable from the battery and the engine keeps running. What did I do wrong? Did I connect the wires wrong on the resistor?
Thanks in advance, Kermit
