TEA Timing marks

Hello, I have a question for the TEA experts out there. I got a replacement
crankshaft gear for my TEA 2085, and it has no timing marks on it. My old gear
seems to have more than one mark on it, the ones that lined up with the cam gear
mark are 6 cogs from the keyway. Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

I changed SPROCKETS / CHAIN /GOVENOR on TEA 20 S# 182991 and S# 251562

See pictures for "ORIGINAL FACTORY timing MARKS":

From your info and PICTURE it would appear you are following some one else's mechanical skills:

The CAM SPROCKET is held in place with four CAP SCREWS. It's important to note, that every time you turn the CAM SPROCKET one mounting hole you CHANGE the CAM timing from FACTORY setting. Thus is why I have pics. of the CAM SPROCKETS on a Mandrel. The timing of the Camshaft can be changed several degrees from factory setting if you are not aware that each mounting hole as well as flipping the SPROCKET over, changes the timing!

There is a procedure to follow so as to have the Camsprocket installed as per factory installation:

When the CAM and or Crankshaft Sprocket are changed it is of IMPORTANCE to place a STRAIGHT EDCE across the faces of the Cam and Crank SPROCKET to verify they are INLINE. Shims on the backside of the CRANK SPROCKRT are used to adjust the CRANK SPROCKET inline with the CAM SPROCKET.

There could have been someone at some time adjusting, swapping parts, experimenting, doing something funky with the cam, trying to advance the CAM, etc, etc, etc,?

Thank you, John Deere D. That is exactly the information I was looking for. You are such a wealth of Ferguson knowledge. There is quite a history on my TEA that I do not know anything about. When I purchased this tractor about 3 years ago, it was a good running tractor with low oil pressure when warm. This winter I thought I would check into the cause. When I pulled the pan the rod and main bearings did not look to be in too bad of a condition, so I miked the rod journals and found them to be as much as 7 thousands out of round. I took the crank out and brought it to our local machine shop hoping the rods would clean up at 040 (the crank was already 030 on the rods) it did not. I spent the rest of the winter looking for an affordable regrindable crank. When I dismantled this engine I was careful about the timing marks 6 cogs from the key way those marks lined up with the cam marks, so I was careful about marking my new gear the same way. Now I find out that my old crank key had sheared off and the engine was retimed with new marks. Kind of unbelievable that I did not catch this before reassembly.

Good day "Benj R"

Knowledge is a process that is obtained from others, who will share and have learned their Craft. Thanks for the compliment. Any knowledge I pass on, was given to me by others who worked and became knowledgeable in a specific topic. "YT TRACTOR" has a vast Vault of Knowledge through their members.

If you post the area you live, there may be someone who has a TEA-20 Crankshaft?

Bob....Western Canada

I am from Saskatchewan and did advertise on Kijiji. I found a good deal in Ontario on a crankshaft, and if anyone here in Canada ever needs used English Ferguson tractor parts I can give you the name of the gentleman I dealt with. (As for new parts Unfortunately YT tractor does not ship to Canada)

Good day Benj R :

Could you please send me the address you have for the Tractor braker in eastern Canada.. FERGUSON PARTS?

Thanks:
