Just after your thoughts every one. What is best to run them on I have always run mine on 95. Got low so I put sum 91 in I thought it ran a wee bit better ? Cheers Steve

The octane of the fuel these tractors were designed to run on was as low as it goes for petrol . TED's will run on kerosene with 10 percent petrol , TEAs on any petrol you would care to put into it .
What does matter is how fresh it is , the top up might have been fresher fuel than what has been sitting in the tank .
These tractor's tanks are open to the atmosphere and hold a lot of air when partly full , the fuel absorbs atmospheric moisture and also lets higher fractions of the fuel evaporate easily .
More than a month in the tank is way too long for any fuel .
